It is really no surprise that truck drivers thoroughly enjoy traveling through Georgia whenever they get the chance.
The Bureau of Labor and Statistics estimates that Georgia is home to more than 50,800 trucking jobs.
On a per capita basis, the state is not far behind first-place Oklahoma with 12.76 trucking jobs for every 1,000 workers. Much of the state’s trucking activity is directly related to international seaports located in Savannah, Brunswick, Bainbridge, and Columbus. In fact, the Port of Savannah is the fourth largest port in the U.S. It handles more than 2.3 million TEU of freight every year.
Trucking companies in Georgia move freight from the ports to destinations across the country. There is also a vibrant regional trucking sector that supports Georgia’s industry, textiles, and agriculture. In short, there are lots of opportunities for local, regional, and long-haul trucking in Georgia. The fine weather and plethora of cultural activities also make Georgia a great state to live in for truck drivers.
