For a truck driver to reach one million miles, it takes an average of eight years as a solo driver. As a team, the average is about five to six years. Becoming a million miler takes a paramount level of hard work and dedication. Imagine all the time away from your family and friends that would require. Think of that, and now imagine being a driver with three or four million miles…
In the past 6 years, CR England has been lucky enough to have 213 million milers as part of our fleet. So far this year, our million milers have a combined total of 56,830,213 safe miles. As part of driver appreciation week, CR England recognized those drivers who have gone above and beyond and reached their million mile mark and above. On Thursday, the company implemented a new way to recognize these drivers by initiating the Gene England Million Miler Club.
At the celebration was Gene England, a man will well over a million miles and who has been driving almost as long as the company has been open, addressed the drivers and thanked them for their hard work.
“I solute you,” he said to the drivers. “You are a big hand to our company. Without you giving 100 percent, none of us would be here. You have what it takes to do the job and do it right. I know what it takes to get the miles you have; the driving through all kinds of weather, we all need to recognize your great effort.”
Following his remarks, England, along with Thom Pronk, Corporate Vice President of Recruiting, Training and Corporate Development, and Wayne Cederholm 3, Director of Safety, presented the drivers with a Rockwell watch inscribed with the words Gene England Million Miler Club on the back. Many of the drivers at the ceremony had seen Gene on the road and some recalled times they had worked together. Following the presentation of the watches, the million milers were invited to a luncheon with Gene.
A million miles is a great achievement and CR England is proud of all drivers who reach that mark.
