Each year, CR England celebrates National Driver Appreciation week by doing something for our drivers. Sometimes we provide lunch for the week, sometimes we do breakfasts and sometimes we do prize giveaways. As a part of this year’s driver appreciation week, England wanted to give their drivers something they could take with them throughout their career. This year, we decided to do a two day safety fair.
At the fair, we had booths where both drivers and employees could learn more about what it takes to be a safe driver. There were booths such as CSA, logs, fuel, claims, fatigue and more. Each booth had a safety manager or other CR England employee to answer questions and provide demonstrations.
Each booth focused on a different aspect of driving, for instance, one booth was called backing. At this booth, drivers could learn information on properly backing their big rig. There were even model trucks where the safety manager at the desk would provide a miniature demonstration of baking into some tight spots.
Another booth at the fair was called turning. Here, drivers would find one of C.R. England’s safety managers named Larry ready to tell them all about distances, speed, shifting and check points while turning. This booth also had a model, this one of a crossroad. With this model, Larry went through a few different turning scenarios, showing drivers both the right way to turn and the wrong way.
With winter right around the corner, England wanted to make sure their drivers were ready for the weather, so there was also a winter driving booth. At this booth, drivers could find info on preparing your truck for winter and the do’s and don’ts of winter driving. With this booth it’s take it slow and easy.
Of course, as with any good fair, England had plenty of giveaways for all who attended. Drivers and employees received a CR England grab bag and were able to fill it with Frisbees, pens, highlighters and, of course, pamphlets on safety. Along with the free goodies, all who attended the fair on Thursday were provided with a free lunch of a Jimmy John’s sandwich.
Thank you to all the drivers who attended the fair and made it successful. We appreciate your hard work in keeping this nation rolling!
