With Driver Appreciation Week well underway and nearing a close, members of our Senior Executive Team have been out on the road. This week they have traveled across the nation to our various sites to meet, greet, and thank the C.R. England drivers for their great contributions to this company and our nation.
This morning of September 14, in response to an urgent need from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dan, Chad and TJ left Salt Lake City with a load of emergency supplies headed to Florida, alongside a second truck of supplies with drivers Robert St. Amand and Edmund Bacon Jr. The two trucks are filled with relief supplies donated by the Church, who reached out just yesterday to England Logistics to help find a transportation solution. To get supplies from the Church to victims as quickly as possible, Dan, Chad, TJ, Robert, and Edmund will be driving in shifts through the night for the estimated 40+-hour drive to Ft. Myers, FL, and Naples, FL. We are proud to be part of a company whose owners drive trucks and are willing to contribute in great causes to make a difference.
C.R. England drivers have also teamed up with Smithfield Foods in helping in their relief efforts. Smithfield Foods had C.R. England drivers delivering donated food on site in Houston two days have Hurricane Harvey passed through. Since that first load, C.R. England had three drivers deliver five full loads of Smithfield products to the area food banks. Preparations were being made with Smithfield Foods and C.R. England’s donation fleet in their relief efforts before Hurricane Irma came to shore. C.R. England is scheduled to haul the first of five loads to Florida next week.
In light of these recent disasters, C.R. England re-affirms our commitment to food banks across the nation and encourages employees to donate to food banks in the impacted areas. Due to the widespread impact of both Harvey and Irma, there are numerous food banks in need of financial assistance. To find a food bank you may have interest in helping in an area impacted by the hurricanes; visit the Feeding America website at http://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank/.
Feeding America-affiliated food banks are reputable agencies where your dollar can usually be converted into $7-$10 of products and is tax deductible. Cash in a disaster is often the most effective donation since agencies can immediately purchase what is most needed.
