CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Over the 86-year history of C.R. England, we have partnered with our drivers and independent contractors to help them meet their immediate career needs and to help shape their professional future as drivers.
We've developed many career choices for our drivers to enable them to enhance their career with C.R. England. Once our drivers complete their driving school, get their CDLs and complete their training, there are a number of options for growing their driving careers with C.R. England.
Own Your Own Business As An Independent Contractor
You can own your own business by leasing a truck from C.R. England. We will lease you a truck with no money down and no credit check. We'll then contract with you to deliver our freight. By leasing your own truck, you have the opportunity of making more money than a company driver. We are so confident you will succeed as a lease operator, we offer a Short-Term Lease Test Drive Program—where you can lease a truck with the option to cancel after six months—instead of just the usual three-year lease. If you do not feel leasing is for you, you can choose to join our workforce as a company driver.
Phase 2
Once you become an independent contractor with us, you can become the first seat in our Phase 2 Program. The Phase 2 program is designed to "jump start" your career as an independent contractor. The Phase 2 program is where you, as a new independent contractor, are eligible to have a "second seat" driver to team with you for up to a three week period. This program is crafted for both you and the second seat to provide access to plentiful team miles and additional experience for a recent training graduate. This successful program has proven very profitable for both our independent contractors and the second seat drivers. A nominal fee is deducted from your settlement fee for this opportunity.
Join Our Workforce As A Company Driver
You can become a company driver and receive all the benefits of working for a large company.
Double Up as a Team Driver
You can apply with your spouse or friend, or we will team you with another employee who would like to driver as a team. You will earn more money team driving than you will as a solo driver. It is a great opportunity for new couples just starting out to build a nest egg. Mature couples, whose children have grown, can see the country and ear great money while doing it.
Become a Driver Trainer
C.R. England Trainers enjoy the highest prestige and top pay a driver can achieve. C.R. England offers this opportunity to both independent contractors and company drivers.
Eligibility requirements to become a Driver Trainer are:
- Hold a current CDL.
- Have been a driver for another company for at least one year OR: received your CDL from a certified truck driving school and have worked for C.R. England for at least six months.
- Have a good safety record.
Why should you apply to become a Driver Trainer?
- Driver Trainers receive the highest wages of any driver position at C.R. England. (Average trainer income for independent contractors is $80,000—some make up to $100,000 per year) Trainers are paid for team miles at their experience solo wage.
- Training lease teams get highest priority reload.
- Trainers have the opportunity to impart their knowledge and skills to new drivers and teach them habits that they will need to be successful.
When you are accepted to become a Driver Trainer you will attend a five-day training class. You will be paid $30 each day while attending the training class. In addition, if you are an independent contractor your lease payment is waived for that week.
Once you complete the class, you will immediately begin to train and earn trainer pay.
